Starting a new exercise program is difficult! We all are use to our routine and changing those routines is a complex issue. In this second video I discuss the second strategy, setting goals, for successfully starting a consistent exercise program. The mistake that many people make when setting goals is they only have one long term goal. Typically weight loss is that long term goal.
They start this new exercise program with a specific weight loss number in their mind and check their weight daily. Unfortunately, even if when you are 100% perfect on your diet and exercise program weight loss doesn't constantly come off. And certainly it doesn't come off as fast as you want. Soon after you start this new program the daily disappointments leave you feeling like a complete failure. Who wants to do anything after feeling like a complete failure at that specific thing? not me!
to "I get to workout.". Now don't laugh. It is possible. You just have to set small easily to achieve goals at the beginning. Getting 2 or 3 wins in you corner after starting your new exercise routine can quickly change you mind about working out. Then you gradually increase the difficulty of your goals. All goals should progress you towards your desired end goal but just like walking on a rock path you only need to take one rock at a time. An example of a small goal could be simply showing up at the gym 3 times this week or completing 10 reps of this exercise.
